Filters and Filtration Packages

Pioneer Filters are designed for superior performance, reliability, and maintenance ease.  Pioneer offers innovative choices -

Particulate and Coalescing Filters

Alert Series - monitors air quality

Duplex Filtration - for greater reliability

Oil-Sep Coalescer Plus - Minimize condensate disposal costs

Back Saver feature for added safety

The Coalator - A Superior Coalescing Concept!

Monitored Oil-Free Air Systems

Contaminated compressed air damages equipment, limits production capacity, and lowers quality.

Why Air Filters - Problem Examples

1. Air logic, instruments used in manufacturing, and other precision-type air devices malfunction when dirt and oil block orifices.

2. Oil aerosols cause

3. Acidic contaminants in compressed air cause slowdowns and shutdowns by damaging seals in cylinders, valves, and tools.

4. Contaminated air

Sources of Contaminants

Caution:

1. A coalescer removes oil aerosols. To remove oil vapors, use the Pioneer Adsorber-Alert.
2. A carbon filter is not very effective in removing oil vapors for more than a few hours because it contains a miniscule amount of carbon.

Typical Industrial Atmospheric Contaminants

A. Particulates

Size Quantity particles/ft3 (m3)
.01-0.2 µm 6 x 108 (212.04 x 108)
0.2-1.0 µm 3 x 107 (106.02 x 107)
1.0-2.0 µm 1 x 105 (34.35 x 105)
2.0-10.0 µm 10 (353.4)
Larger Settle Down

B. Moisture

Dew Point
Temperature
°F (°C)
PPM by Weight Oz/1000 ft³
(Kg/1000m³)
150 (65.6) 200,000 287 (229.6)
120 (48) 80,000 115 (92)
100 (37.5 42,000 60 (48)
80 (6) 22,000 32 (25.6)
60 (16) 12,000 17 13.6)
40 (5) 5,100 7 (5.6)
32 (0) 3,200 4.6 (3.68)
-25 (-32) 200 .3 (.24)

C. Hydrocarbons

2 to 15 PPM by weight
That's why even non-lubricated compressors require filtration.

 Filter Applications and Performance

Type General Applications Specific Applications Typical Efficiency .1-.6 Micron Particulates Typical Pressure Drop PSIG @ Rated Flow
Dry Wet/Dirty
Particulate For high dirt holding capacity. Increases life of other filters Prefilters for refrigerant dryers and coalescing filters. Afterfilters for desiccant dryers. For basic protection of air operated equipment, tools, and instruments. 99.00% 0.5-1.0 1.0-5.0
Coalescer For removing liquid aerosols and suspend fines (to remove oil vapors, see carbon adsorber). Prefilter for desiccant dryers. Cold coalescer for refrigerant dryer. Protection for air control circuits, air gauging, etc. 99.97% 1.0-2.0 2.0-5.0
Micro-Coalescer For extremely fine coalescing or for last-trace aerosol removal For lighter molecular weight gases and aerosols. For electronics industry. 100.00% 1.0-2.0 2.0-5.0
Coalator For removing moisture and oil with one product vs. two, a separator and a coalescer. After the compressor aftercooler and before the air dryer. 99.70% 1.5-2.5 3.0-6.0
Oil-Alert For easy monitoring of oil content in air (signals by changing color from white to red). For breathing air, electronics, and painting applications*. 99.97% 2.0-3.0 3.0-6.0
Carbon Adsorber
Alert
For removing oil vapors and odors (signals by changing color from white to red). For 100% oil-free air. For electronics, food, pharmaceutical and breathing air applications*. 100% 2.0-3.0 3.0-6.0
Extractor-Dryer
-Indicator
For visual monitoring and point-of-use protection For electronics and painting applications*. 99.97% 2.0-3.0 3.0-6.0
Duplex Filtration For maximum reliability and to eliminate downtime. For critical applications: hospitals, breathing air, automated manufacturing and refineries*. Varies with type of filter 0.5-3.0 1.0-6.0
Monitored Oil-Free
Air Systems
For 100% oil-free air For pharmaceutical, electronics, and breathing air applications. 100% oil removal 3.0-5.0 5.0-10.0

10-Year Limited Warranty

Pioneer filter housings and Oil-Sep Coalescer Plus housings are warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of ten years, prorated, from the date of shipment, provided the equipment is installed and operated according to the company's recommended usage. Liability is limited to the repair, refund, or replacement in kind at the company's sole option. In no event will Pioneer be liable or responsible for incidental and consequential damages, even if the possibility of such has been made known to the company. The usual maintenance and replacement-type products are not covered by this warranty. To protect the warranty, use genuine Pioneer accessories and spare parts. Mechanical parts only warranty applies to equipment outside the U.S.A., Mexico, and Canada.

60-Day Return Privilege

If you are not completely satisfied with your Pioneer equipment, you may return it within 60 days of the shipment date from the factory. The distributor will be refunded the purchase price paid to Pioneer. Special built equipment, equipment damaged or abused, handling, installation, incidental, consequential, profit margins, freight, spare parts, and equipment valued over $15,000 list price are excluded from this offer.

Maintenance - All Products

To ensure good quality air, change filter elements on a regular time interval, e.g. once every three to six months, depending upon the quality of air entering the filters and your application.

Caution: Depressurize filter housing before loosening the filter assembly. To insure depressurization, open drain line to atmosphere. Loosening a filter under pressure may cause injury.

 Greater Reliability

Critical applications do not permit bypass of a filter even for a short time period. These applications need duplex filters in parallel to permit bypass of one filter while the other is being serviced. All Pioneer filters as well as Monitored Oil-free Air systems are available in duplex form complete with bypass.
