PIONEER'S MARKET ......

USA - $ 300 ~ 400 million dollars / year

WORLD - $ 750 ~ 800 million dollars / year

PIONEER's products are used in virtually every industry.... power generation, oil and gas fields, offshore rigs, petro-chemicals, automotive, transportation, natural gas refueling, manufacturing, pulp and paper, textile, electronics, computers, communication, food, pharmaceuticals, mining, construction, hospitals, respiratory air in hazardous environments, environment cleaning, hydrocarbon condensation and removal, laundries, etc.

We believe a distributor can generate perhaps 30 to 40% of its sales and 50% of its profits in PIONEER products.

Market estimates indicated below are for the markets that PIONEER does or can participate in.

COMPRESSED AIR DRYERS

REFRIGERANT DRYERS - Commonly used in most manufacturing plants, utilities, off-shore process plants, chemical plants, textile, food, pharmaceuticals, hospitals, etc. Refrigerant Dryers are used in most indoor applications requiring clean, dry compressed air where 35 to 40 Deg. F (2 to 5 Deg. C) pressure dew point is acceptable. US market estimate: US $50 million. World market estimate: US $150-$200 million.

REGENERATIVE DRYERS - Provide lower pressure dew points down to -100 F(-73.3 C). Generally used in chemical, electronics, pulp and paper, off-shore platforms, natural gas re-fueling, power generation, food, pharmaceuticals, hospitals, refineries, process plants, etc. US market estimate: US $60 million, World market estimate: US $120-$150 million.

SUPER DELIQUESCENT DRYERS - Provide pressure dew point suppression and not a target pressure dew point These dryers can remove up to 90% of the moisture. Generally used in construction, mining, lumber mills, sandblasting etc. US market estimate: US $l0-$15 million, World market estimate: - not known.

FILTERS

A part of the filter market is in conjunction with compressed air dryers as pre and after filters. In addition, filters are used in very large quantities as point of use protection against dirt and oil. US market estimate: US $50-$l00 million, World market estimate: US $l00-200 million. Filter market estimates vary a great deal because of the variation in classification of filters and their applications.

ACCESSORIES

PIONEER offers numerous accessories and options to complement its compressed air systems...

US market estimate: Over $25 million, World market estimate -over $50 million.

POINT OF USE PROTECTION

Indicating and non-indicating types. These products provide protection from moisture, oil and/or dirt in compressed air at the point of use. These products offer OEM (original equipment manufacturers) market potential with built in residual market for spare parts. US market estimate - over $10 million, World market estimate - over $25 million.

WATER COOLING SYSTEMS

COOLING TOWERS - A typical cooling tower cools water with ambient air and evaporation. Its performance depends upon ambient temperature and relative humidity in the air or what is called "wet bulb temperature". The wet bulb temperature is typically 10 to 20 Deg. F(5 to 11 Deg.C) less than the dry bulb or the actual ambient temperature. A properly sized cooling tower can cool water within 5 to 15 Deg.F(3 to 8 Deg.C) of the wet bulb temperature. In most locations a cooling tower can deliver water between 75 to 85 Deg. F(24 to 30 Deg.C) in summer months and lower temperatures in cooler weather. Cooling Towers are commonly used to cool water for air conditioning and most manufacturing operations. US market estimate: US $50-$l00 million, World market estimate: US $200-$300 million.

CLOSED LOOP COOLING SYSTEMS (AQUASAVERS) - In this type of system the water flows through sealed tubes. It does not come in contact with the atmosphere. The water flows through tubes, which are exposed to atmosphere. The atmospheric air cools the tubes which in turn cool the water. A properly sized system can cool water to within 150F(80C) of the actual ambient (dry bulb) temperature. In most locations for most of the year, the water can be cooled to 90 to 1000F(32 to 380C). The cooling limitation can be improved by 10 to 20 Deg. F (5-11 Deg. C) with use of a trim cooler; however the trim cooler will require a cooling source e.g. city water. US market estimate: US $l0-$15 million, World market estimate: not known.

INDUSTRIAL PROCESS CHILLERS - Some applications require cooling that can only be provided with a chiller, which is essentially a refrigeration type cooling system. Examples: Molding equipment, induction heating equipment, welding equipment, numerically controlled machines, oil base coolants in drilling, cutting, rolling, grinding and honing operations, chemical operations, food processing, machine tools, film processing, bakery, boiler feed sampling, spray washing for poultry, produce, etc., cement mixing, lasers, computers, plasma cutting, packaging machinery, process analyzers, instruments-spectrometers, microscopes, blood cooling, scanners, etc., cooling jackets in mixers, ovens, candy molds, etc., degreasers, electric generators, plating tanks, fish tanks, quench tanks, de-ionized water or liquids (stainless steel systems without brass or copper), blower pressure air/gas cooling, compressed air/gas cooling, spot cooling (blowing air) for equipment, spot cooling for people. US market estimate: US $25-50 million, World market estimate: not known.

BREATHING AIR PRODUCTS

The Breathing quality air is used for work in toxic environments and hospitals. Applications include: asbestos abatement, rocket fueling, sandblasting, painting, chemical cleaning, welding, fire-fighting, underwater work, underground sewer work, hospitals and medical facilities, nuclear facilities, hazardous areas, pharmaceuticals, acid baths (fumes) and ovens (fumes).

PIONEER offers... Carbon-Monoxide Monitors, Portable Systems for limited use, as well as continuous duty systems.  In this product category PIONEER leads the industry with its high efficiency purifiers (PCH series). The PCH series incorporates a full size refrigerant dryer as well as a full size regenerative dryer. The Hybrid Dryer approach allows PIONEER design to provide breathing quality air with 3 to 4% purge loss compared to 15 to 20% purge loss common in industry. It should be noted that the breathing quality standards and its monitoring is mandated by OSHA and CSA. US market estimate: US $5-$l0 million, World market estimate: not known.

NATURAL GAS DRYERS

This is the fastest growing segment of our market. The growth is being stimulated by the US Government regulations, in addition to the cost and environmental (cleaner burning) advantages of the natural gas.

The Energy Policy Act of 1992 requires federal fleets to begin purchasing alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) in the fiscal year 1993. The following table is a summary of requirements for federal and state fleets, alternative fuel providers, and private and municipal fleets.

Year Federal State Fuel Providers Private
1993 5,000 - - -
1994 7,500 - - -
1995 10,000 - - -
1996 25 % 10 % 30 % -
1997 33 % 15 % 50 % -
1998 50 % 25 % 70 % -
1999 75 % 50 % 90 % 20 %
2000 75 % 75 % 90 % 20 %

PIONEER also designs and builds Natural Gas dryers for off-shore applications including flue gas drying and process plants. US market estimate: Over US $50 million, World market estimate: Over US $100 million.

So, if you are a sales person, you can generate perhaps

- 30 to 40% of your sale
- And even more important - 50% of your income from

PIONEER products.
