Monitored Oil-Free Air Systems (MOFA)

MOFA system similar to the one built for NASA

 

 

 

The pre-packaged system includes:

  1. Minimum pressure drop -Filters of same inlet and outlet as the system inlet and outlet or larger sizes are used, eliminating reducer fittings, and minimizing pressure drop.
  2. Prefilter (PS) -Removes particulates and condensed liquids; protects downstream filters and increases element life.
  3. Coalescer (CS) -removes and separates oil aerosols.
  4. Carbon Adsorber Alert (AD) -adsorbs and monitors oil vapor carryover.
  5. Final Filter (PS).
  6. Dedicated Three-Valve bypasses -each filter has its own three-valve bypass arrangement for easy element replacement.
  7. Manual drains (4).
  8. Timer Drains (2) -In addition to manual drains, the prefilter and coalescer are equipped with adjustable timer drains for automatic drainage of condensates. The valve open and close times are separately adjustable.

Notes:

  1. Capacity @ 100 PSIG (6.9 Bar G)
  2. Maximum allowable temp: 150°F (65.6°C) through 250 SCFM, 120°F (48.9°C) 500 SCFM and larger.
  3. Drain 1/4" (6.35 mm) through 250 SCFM, 1/2" (12.7 mm) 500 SCFM and larger.
  4. Suffix ÔT' indicates unit with acrylic tube, maximum allowable working pressure 150 PSIG (10.35 Bar G). Suffmix ÔM' indicates unit with carbon steel tube, maximum allowable working pressure 250 PSIG (17.25 Bar G).

Recommended Specifications

The monitored oil-free air system shall include a particulate prefilter, a coalescer, an indicating carbon adsorber, and a final filter. Each item shall have an independent three valve by-pass system and a manual drain for easy maintenance. In addition to the manual drains, the prefilter and coalescer shall have independent dual timer drains.

The indicating type adsorber shall incorporate six steps -separation, prefilter, activated carbon, indicator plus coalescing, afterfilter, and final filter. The indicator plus coalescing shall turn white to red as it adsorbs oil. The Monitored Oil-free Air System shall be Pioneer Model _____
